Commencing operation in 2008, Rotor Solutions is a family owned and operated business. Chief Pilot Hugh Acton-Adams and his wife, General Manager, Monique Acton-Adams have built the business from humble beginnings with one machine, growing out of demand as well as a desire for offering superior service.
Experience matters
Hugh’s extensive career and experience spans two decades and well over 15,000 hours in the seat. With his flying career dedicated to the aerial application industry, Hugh’s expertise and experience are the foundations upon which Rotor Solutions are built.
Growing up in an aviation and farming family, to flying throughout Australia, Hugh’s focus is on flying: ensuring result driven application and guaranteeing all pilots are trained and skilled to provide this every time.
Monique is passionate about providing customers with a superior customer service experience, and with customers still choosing to work together after 15 years, the importance of individual, personal and trusted client relationships shows.

Meet The Team
Director & Chief Pilot
Having spent over half his life in Australia, Chief Pilot and Director, Hugh originally hails from a farming family in the high-country hills of the South Island, New Zealand. Hugh understands the challenges and struggles of farming and how hard farmers work to maintain their livelihood. From a young age Hugh has witnessed the benefits and advantages of helicopter spraying and fertiliser application on his family farm.
The helicopter bug grew inside Hugh and was firmly planted by his family connection to some pioneers of aviation in New Zealand and a long family history in several aviation sectors. Hugh has over 15,000 hours flying experience and he really does love his job!
General Manager / ISO Safety Manager
Skilled in business administration, Monique undertakes all business management and marketing whilst also overseeing job work flow and customer relationships. As the company Safety Manager,
It was a passion of Monique’s over the past 6 years to implement, certify and improve on yearly, the company’s ISO Certified QMS, SMS, EMS.
Monique juggles her and Hugh’s two young children around work and life commitments.
Head of Airworthiness & Maintenance Control / Ground Operations Director
Ken oversees all maintenance requirements for the aircraft, including conversing with engineers, Airworthiness Directives and maintenance scheduling, planning and costing.
On the ground, Ken ensures all support vehicles and items equipment are serviced, maintained and ready for work. This includes managing the Dangerous Goods requirements for each support vehicle. A vital job which ensures the safety of staff and customers.
Ken has worked throughout the world in many industries and has a passion for farming, machinery and motorbikes.
Customer relations & Administration
Jen is experienced in business administration and manages the day to day relationships with customers including bookings, mapping, quote management and invoicing.
Jen is a spreadsheet guru and assists with the tracking of task planning and allocation.
Local to the wider Albury area, Jen’s three boys have all left home, but her puppy and husband keep her busy. Jen loves aviation, chatting to farmers and is right at home working at Rotor Solutions.
Line Pilot
Lance joined the Rotor Solutions team early in 2021, having worked in Australia and New Zealand flying.
Lance hails from the beautiful region of Wanaka in New Zealand and like all Kiwi helicopter CPL pilots, his basic training and skills are more advanced and well suited to our hill country operations.
Lance is a hard worker and loves being in the seat, but when he’s not flying, he enjoys fishing and the outdoors.
Line Pilot
Cameron began at Rotor Solutions as a ground support team member with a fresh CPL licence.
He moved to Albury from a small town in the top of the South Island, New Zealand.
Cameron was enthusiastic to learn and keen to build on his basic skills to become a great agricultural and application pilot.
Five years on, Cameron has almost four thousand hours, has moved into the Airbus aircraft and is an important member of the team, whilst still keen to develop and build on his skills including moving into firefighting and longline work.
Line Pilot / Drone Pilot
Hailing from Tamworth, Matt has come from the family farm and originally had a career as a carpenter.
The last five years have seen Matt live on the beautiful coast of the Kimberley region in Western Australia flying charter before he decided to head back to the eastern states.
Matt has recently moved into holding a drone licence and is leading this division of the business as a drone pilot. This year will see Matt will continue as a utility helicopter pilot, as well as flying drones.
Line Pilot
Will joined the team at the start of 2023 as a junior pilot with a fresh agricultural rating. Will is a keen learner, who has thrown himself into all things ag pilot this year, clocking up almost 300 hours in the seat.
Originally from the South Island where he enjoyed playing rugby and the outdoors, Will did his training in Christchurch before moving at the start of the year to the lucky country.
Will is well liked by Rotor Solutions customers already, with the feedback giving glowing reviews.
Ground Support Crew
Chris, a true hard working Aussie bloke.
Chris is Cootamundra born and bred and has spent a large part of his life working on the farm, wool classing and farm contracting.
Chris then moved to loading aircraft and spent a number of years loading fixed wing aircraft before joining the Rotor Solutions team to load helicopters.
Chris loves being on the road, chatting to farmers and making sure he has done his job perfectly!
Ground Support Crew
Ben joined Rotor Solutions in 2022, new to the aviation industry. Ben is a Wodonga local and has tried his hand at a few careers before joining the team.
Previously Ben worked on cattle stations and has seen firsthand the challenges farming can bring in some of the toughest conditions.
Ben is a proud member of the Army Reserves and will take time each year to serve his role in this.
Ground Support Crew
Sarah was new in 2023 to the team and is giving the guys a run for their money as Ground Support.
A perfect fit for the job, Sarah is originally from far north Queensland, and has worked on cattle stations all over the top end and she loves the outdoors, camping and 4-wheel driving in her spare time. A family keen on aviation, Sarah’s father and brother are also both aircraft technicians in the army.
Rotor Solutions management are passionate about ensuring the best person fit for the task.
Why so many New Zealand pilots some ask. Simple; almost all of Rotor Solutions flying is conducted under difficult terrain and conditions, in hills and mountainous areas.
In New Zealand the majority of pilot training is done under these environmental conditions and with the extra hours needed in New Zealand to receive a licence, pilots come out with better basic training and better knowledge of how to combat the terrain required for the task. The best person fit for the task.
